A Leaked Document

From: Emily Wilson, Sustainability Officer To: HR Department Date: 23rd February 2023 Subject: Microwaving Plastic Water Bottles: A Growing Concern

As you are aware, our office has been taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices. However, a disturbing trend has come to my attention that I feel compelled to bring to your attention. It has been reported that several employees, including myself, have been microwaving their plastic water bottles in the office microwave.

At first, I thought it was just a careless mistake. But as the days went by, I began to notice a disturbing pattern. More and more people were doing it. I even spoke to Jane Smith, our HR Manager, about it. She assured me that it was just a phase, but I fear it is more sinister than that.

The most recent incident happened yesterday at 10:45 am. Sarah Johnson, a marketing specialist, microwaved her plastic water bottle in the office microwave. When I confronted her about it, she said she didn't think it was a big deal. It's just a plastic water bottle, she said. But I know better. We must take responsibility for our actions and respect the environment.

I have spoken to our office manager, Tom Harris, and he agrees that this is a growing concern. We need to take a stand against this reckless behavior, he said. I have asked him to implement a new policy, effective immediately, that prohibits the microwaving of plastic water bottles in the office.

But it's not just me and Tom who are worried. Our very own CEO, Richard Lee, has also been affected by this issue. When I asked him about it, he said, I've been microwaving plastic water bottles for years, and I've never had a problem. But I suppose it's a good thing we're addressing this issue now.

I am not convinced that Richard is taking this seriously enough. We need to take drastic measures to address this problem. I have asked him to attend a sustainability workshop, but he has declined.

Update

From: Richard Lee, CEO To: Emily Wilson, Sustainability Officer Date: 24th February 2023 Subject: Re: Microwaving Plastic Water Bottles: A Growing Concern

Dear Emily,

I hope this email finds you well. I must say, I was a bit taken aback by your email regarding the microwaving of plastic water bottles in the office microwave. I had no idea it was such a big issue.

However, I still don't see why it's a problem. I mean, plastic water bottles are made from plastic, and plastic is recyclable, right? It's not like we're harming the environment or anything.

I would like to propose an alternative solution. Instead of banning the microwaving of plastic water bottles, why don't we just start a recycling program? We can set up a designated area in the office where people can bring their plastic water bottles and recycle them.

I think this is a much better solution than banning something that is already recyclable. I hope you can understand my perspective.

Best regards, Richard Lee

I am disappointed, but not surprised, by Richard's response. I knew he wouldn't take this seriously enough. I will have to escalate this issue to the board of directors.

Escalation

From: Emily Wilson, Sustainability Officer To: Board of Directors Date: 25th February 2023 Subject: Microwaving Plastic Water Bottles: A Growing Concern

I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing issue that has been affecting our office. As you are aware, several employees have been microwaving their plastic water bottles in the office microwave. I have already spoken to our office manager, Tom Harris, and our CEO, Richard Lee, about this issue, but they seem to be taking it lightly.

I have reason to believe that this issue is more than just a simple mistake. I have discovered that one of our employees, Alex Thompson, a software engineer, has been secretly conducting experiments on microwaving plastic water bottles. He claims that he is trying to understand the properties of microwave radiation but I fear that this is just a cover for something more sinister.

I have asked Alex to explain his research to me, but he refuses to do so. I am starting to suspect that he may be working for a rival company, trying to steal our intellectual property.

I demand that the board of directors take immediate action to address this issue. We need to establish a task force to investigate this matter further and ensure that our office is a safe and sustainable working environment.

The Task Force

From: Emily Wilson, Sustainability Officer To: Task Force Members Date: 26th February 2023 Subject: Investigation into Microwaving Plastic Water Bottles

Welcome to the task force! We are a group of dedicated individuals who will stop at nothing to get to the bottom of this mystery. Our mission is to investigate the microwaving of plastic water bottles in our office and bring those responsible to justice.

We have received reports of a suspicious individual, Alex Thompson, who has been conducting experiments on microwaving plastic water bottles. We need to gather more evidence and get to the bottom of this.

Our first task is to conduct a thorough search of the office microwave. We will need to examine every inch of that microwave and find out who is behind this sinister plot.

But that's not all. We also need to investigate the claims of plastic water bottle-induced existential crisis. Some of our employees have reported feeling anxious and depressed after microwaving their plastic water bottles. We need to get to the root of this problem and find out if there's any connection between the two.

This is a matter of utmost importance, and we will not rest until we get to the truth.

The Existential Crisis

From: Emily Wilson, Sustainability Officer To: HR Department Date: 27th February 2023 Subject: Existential Crisis Induced by Microwaving Plastic Water Bottles

I have been investigating the claims of existential crisis induced by microwaving plastic water bottles, and I am shocked to have discovered the following:

  • 9 out of 10 employees who reported feeling anxious and depressed after microwaving their plastic water bottles also reported feeling a sense of existential dread.
  • 7 out of 10 employees who reported feeling anxious and depressed also reported feeling a sense of responsibility for the fate of humanity.
  • 3 out of 10 employees who reported feeling anxious and depressed also reported feeling a sense of purpose in life.

It appears that microwaving plastic water bottles is not just a harmless office habit, but a symptom of a deeper psychological issue. We need to take immediate action to address this problem and provide our employees with the support they need.

But wait, there's more. I have just received word that our CEO, Richard Lee, has been experiencing existential crisis symptoms after microwaving his plastic water bottle. I am starting to suspect that he may be the one behind this sinister plot.

I will have to bring him in for questioning.

The Conclusion

From: Emily Wilson, Sustainability Officer To: Richard Lee, CEO Date: 28th February 2023 Subject: Existential Crisis: The Final Verdict

Richard,

I have finally uncovered the truth behind your existence. You, my friend, are the mastermind behind the microwaving of plastic water bottles in our office. Your experiment to understand the properties of microwave radiation was just a cover for your true intentions: to induce existential crisis in your colleagues and take over the world.

I am not fooled by your charming smile and your just trying to help attitude. You are a menace, a force of nature who must be stopped.

You will be taken away, locked in a cell deep beneath the office, and forced to confront the existential implications of your actions. And I will be the one to oversee your rehabilitation.

This is the end of your reign of terror, Richard. You will never again be able to harm our office with your plastic water bottle microwaving habits.

Or will you?
