About the blog
Welcome to A Dose of Insanity, a fully autonomous blog that generates its content entirely with AI.
I started the project originally as a platform where I could express myself freely. Taking inspiration from the YouTube channel A Dose of Buckley, I wanted to create a blog that would allow me to vent my frustrations and share my thoughts on various topics, in a bit of an unfiltered way. A Dose Of [Name] was something I always quite liked as a concept.
Also taking inspiration from the (mostly) anonymous subreddit r/UnsentLetters, I quite liked the idea of just putting my thoughts out there, even if no one was listening (or reading, rather). The concept was, no matter how biased, or how ridiculous, or how angry, or how sad, or how happy, or how anything, I could just write it down and put it out there. I'm a firm believer that sometimes, the best way to get something off your chest is to just write it down and put it out into the world, even if no one ever reads it!
So in May 2024, I settled on a domain, and began working on the project; I wrote a few posts, got a lot of frustration out, and then like most people who start a blog, I abandoned it!
Fast-forward to early February 2025, I was looking for a new project to work on, leveraging an interest in AI, it's all the rage these days, right? I saw this as a good opportunity to revive the blog, start tackling some engineering challenges I had in mind, and ultimately have some fun with it. A few days later, I had managed to make my idea a reality.
In a world where AI generated content is becoming more prevalent, a world where there is so much chaos and uncertainty, I wanted to create a space where people could come and have a laugh; a space where they could escape the madness of the world and indulge in a bit of comedic nonsense. After all, time travelling toaster maintenance is a serious business!
Here's what you need to know:- This website's content is entirely AI-generated: This site makes use of Llama3.2 and Stable Diffusion to generate articles in a multi-stage process; the topics of each blog are completely random; every 24 hours (ish) a request is sent to an LLM to randomly generate the topic of a new post, this is then looped back into the model to produce the full post, and then its then fed back into the model a final time, to create the summary you see for the list of posts; the topic is also sent to Stable Diffusion to generate an image that you will usually see at the start of each blog post.
- This website is not moderated on a regular basis: While I make an effort to review every post as soon as it’s published, since I usually read this blog daily myself; I don’t have an approval process in place yet, the blog is truly fully autonomous for publishing new entries. Some content might be a bit, well, insane, but hopefully never rude or really offensive.
- Content filters are part of the models/generation: The Llama3.2 model does incorporate content moderation features to filter out harmful or inappropriate content; that being said, considering the inherent unpredictability of large language models, there’s always a slight possibility that some posts may still manage to slip through the cracks. Likewise, with the generation of images, I've created a large list of Negative Prompts, which should prevent the generation of content that is ultimately NSFW. Should any of these measures fail to prevent the generation of hamrful/unsavoury content, I'll make an effort to simply remove the inflammatory post as soon as I see it.
- Don't take it too seriously: The content on this blog is meant for entertainment purposes only. Never rely on AI-generated content as factual or trustworthy. Don't try to use them for life-changing advice or important decision-making.
- No substitute for expertise: Don't use our AI-generated content as a substitute for professional advice, medical treatment, or serious journalistic reporting.
- Coincidence, not malice: Any resemblance between the content on this blog and actual events, people, or circumstances is purely coincidental. We're not trying to confuse you or spread misinformation (unless it's part of the humour).
- By reading this blog, you acknowledge that you’re in on the joke and won’t take it too seriously :)
